Lightning Fall To Islanders In Shootout

The New York Islanders (19-11-3) defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning (18-11-3) 3-2 in the shooutout on Saturday afternoon in Elmont, New York.

The Islanders scored two goals in the first period, but the Lightning would rally. Darren Raddysh scored on the power play in the second before JJ Moser scored in the third to tie the game 2-2. After a scoreless overtime period, Emil Heineman got the game-winning goal in the third round of the shootout to lift the Islanders to the second point.

Ilya Sorokin made 32 saves on 34 shots faced in net to pick up the win for the Islanders. Jonas Johansson went 15-of-17 in the losing effort for Tampa Bay.

The Lightning return home for the next four games beginning with a matchup against their in-state rival Panthers on Monday night. Puck drop between the Lightning and Panthers is scheduled for 7:00 PM on Monday night from Benchmark International Arena in Tampa.
