The Tampa Bay Lightning (19-13-3) defeated the Carolina Hurricanes (22-10-3) 6-4 on Saturday night in Tampa to snap their losing skid at three games. Jake Guentzel scored two goals - the game winner and an empty netter, both in the third - to lead the way.
The Lightning fell behind 3-0 in the first period thanks in part thanks to two power play goals from the Hurricanes. Tampa Bay answered with three goals in the second to tie the game. In the third the Hurricanes took a 4-3 lead before Ryan McDonagh tied the game 4-4. Then Guentzel hit the game-winner at the 6:38 mark of the third before adding an empty netter with :27 left on the clock.
The Lightning are next in action when they host the St. Louis Blues in the final game before the Christmas Break on Monday night. Puck drop between the Lightning and Blues is scheduled for 7:00 PM on Monday night.
