- Thursday marked the end of the open enrollment period for ACA exchange-based policies that came amid an end to the COVID-era subsidies for Obamacare policies. Initial guidance from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid suggests at least 20% of Floridians, or about 260,000 people, on those polices over the past year didn’t sign up with the expiration of subsidies which had extended to 92% of all recipients accounting for most of the cost of those plans. Florida has led the country in ACA policies in recent years.
- The NCAA and Secret Service have increased security measures at Hark Rock Stadium in advance of Monday’s national championship game between Miami and Indiana. The NCAA has said that only ticket holders will be allowed to tailgate in advance of the game and the Secret Service has begun enhanced security measures in the vicinity as President Trump is expected to attend the game.
- Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross told Bloomberg during an interview that he’s received “offers you wouldn’t believe” to buy the Miami Dolphins. According to Ross, he’s been offered nearly $15 billion to sell the team which would be 50% higher than the highest sales price for a professional sports team in American history. Ross said he intends to keep the team within his family.
- Clear skies and cold temps to start today with temps reaching the 30’s overnight along the Treasure Coast and in the Palm Beaches. Today’s highs will be in the low to mid 60’s throughout the Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast. There’s a chance of snow in parts of northern Florida this weekend.
- The price of gas fell a penny per gallon on Thursday but is 10 cents higher than a week ago. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $2.82 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $2.99 per gallon, in Martin the average is $2.87, it’s $2.85 in St. Lucie, and in Indian River County the average is $2.85 per gallon.
