Florida COVID-19 Vaccination Rates By Age – October 14th, 2021

Bottom Line: COVID-19 vaccination rates continue to trend above the national average in Florida. The higher vax trend kicked in along with the summer surge in cases and perhaps may be contributing to Florida’s recent rapid decline from peak pandemic levels in mid-August. A majority of all eligible Floridians at all age levels have been immunized with at least a first dose most recently.

Florida’s overall vaccination rate stands at 67.6% of Florida’s total population with 72% of Florida’s vaccine eligible population. Florida currently ranks 18th overall among all states in COVID-19 vaccination rates. We continue to see the lowest vaccination rates among 20-somethings.

Here’s an updated look at completed vaccination rates by age:

  • 12-19: 55%
  • 20-29: 53%
  • 30-39: 63%
  • 40-49: 71%
  • 50-59: 77%
  • 60-64: 84%
  • 65+: 88%

The biggest differences this week came with those under 19 and those in their 30’s & 50’s. With Florida’s 20-somethings being the least likely to have received a COVID-19 vaccine they also stand to be the most impacted by President Biden’s announcement of a COVID-19 vaccine mandate. Should that rule go through about 74% of Florida’s workforce would be impacted. As of today, approximately 67% of Florida’s workforce has been vaccinated. That leaves approximately 750,000 Floridians currently in the crosshairs of the mandate.
