- With only 2,300 new COVID-19 cases reported on Thursday, typically the day with the highest reporting, Florida’s weekly trend has fallen to the lowest level since December 11th.
- Among the movers in Thursday’s state Legislative Session – the Senate passed the bill limiting abortions to 15 weeks under most circumstances on a party-line vote. The bill now goes to Governor DeSantis who has previously indicated he approves of the legislation.
- Florida Fish and Wildlife has authorized 200 goliath groupers to be fished per year. It’s the first authorized catch since 1990. Under the plan, fish harvested would be limited to those between two to three feet. FWC maintains the population will be able to continue to grow under these restrictions.
- Amazon’s college tuition program has expanded in Florida. Under the program hourly employees who’ve worked with Amazon for a minimum of 90 days are eligible for free tuition and fees provided they continue their employment with Amazon. Nine schools are being offered through the program including the University of Florida Online, FIU, University of Central Florida and Miami Dade College.
