Local Election Day - Top 3 Takeaways – March 8th, 2022

  1. Election Day. Today is Election Day for voters of 20 communities in Palm Beach County and 4 in Broward. While my longtime saying has been...every election has consequences but it's often those closest to you which have the biggest impact in your daily life...it's safe to say the pandemic has illustrated the importance of local elections perhaps as well as any event in our lifetime. While local only elections always experience the lowest turnout – they have an outsized influence on our lives. If you’re in one of South Florida’s 24 communies with elections today – please take the time to inform yourself and vote. Yes, it’s important to vote the best candidates in office and to weigh in on ballot proposals for the communities who have introduced them on today’s ballots – but it's also important for local officials to know we’re paying attention and minding the store in our own communities. Local only elections have a historic average turnout rate of approximately 18% in Florida. Turnout based on those who early voted in Palm Beach County was 10.3%. In Broward, it was 9.2%. It’ll be interesting to see where turnout will land once all votes have been counted. If everything we’ve been through over the past couple of years isn’t enough to motivate voters – it’s hard know what would. I’ll be heading to the polls later today. I hope to see a lot of people there.
  2. Say What? Now we’re going to Maduro for oil? Maduro?! In recent days as oil has topped $130 per barrel with gas topping $4 per gallon, I’ve taken the time to explain how we got here. The short version is like this. Since 2017 Russia’s been buying off environmental hack whackjob groups like the Natural Resources Defense Network, Sierra Club and Climate Action Network. Those Russian supported environmental hack whackjob groups oppose harvesting energy in the US and pressured Joe Biden to include curbs to production and distribution as part of his political platform. The environmental hack whackjob groups helped get Biden elected. Within the first week Biden paid them back by signing executive actions killing the Keystone XL pipeline and canceling energy harvesting on 2.46 billion acres of land. That’s not an accident – 2.46 billion acres. The result? The US went from being energy independent and a net exporter for the first time in American history under President Trump, to immediately energy reliant on foreign countries – with Russia stepping up to fill the void. As of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, they’d become the third leading supplier of US energy. As discussed, the Biden administration hasn’t banned Russian oil because without US supplies increasing – which he refuses to allow – and without OPEC increasing supplies – which they’re refusing to do...We’re screwed. So now what are we doing? Kowtowing to Maduro. A dictator every bit as evil as Putin. We’ve become so pathetic in just a year under Biden we’ve sent a US contingent to Maduro to attempt to buy oil we had been buying from Russia because Biden stopped it in the United States. The words that come to mind to describe the dumpster fire that is Joe Biden and his wretched administration include four letters. So instead... Say what?!
  3. Ladapo’s the man. Last November I covered the child Covid vax topic. At the time I said this: According to the CDC there have been a total of 748,164 COVID-19 attributed deaths among Americans of all ages. How many of those might you think have been from children between the ages of 5-14? The answer...185. To put this in perspective, approximately 11% of the US population is between 5 and 14. They account for 0.02% of all COVID-19 related deaths. My conclusion based on the data, which shows children are 3x to 5x more likely to die of pneumonia than COVID-19 during the pandemic, is that there’s no medical justification for having children immunized for COVID-19 for their benefit. Just as there wasn’t justification for having children forcibly masked in a naturally socially distanced classroom. As you’ll hear me say...there are two sides to stories and one side to facts. The fact of the matter is science never supported child COVID-19 vaccinations. The fact of the matter is that there are thousands more confirmed myocarditis cases from children who’ve received Covid vaccines than those who’ve died without them. Florida’s Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo’s recommendation against child vaccinations may buck the CDC, as has been reported, but the science is on his side – not theirs as per usual during the pandemic.
