Miscalculations of the Abortion Debate
Bottom Line: The purpose of Congress is to represent your interests in Washington. What’s set to happen is most likely anything but that. Tomorrow Congressional Democrats are set to take up legislation which if enacted would literally allow abortions up to the moment of birth. Over the past week I’ve detailed what I’ve perceived to be significant political miscalculations on this issue. There are some Americans which remarkably do believe in unrestricted abortions, including up to the moment of birth, but not many. According to new research from Pew, only 19% of Americans believe in completely unrestricted abortions. This means Democrats in Washington have made their new top priority, which they’ve rushed to address on back of a leaked Supreme Court draft document, abortion. And not just any kind of abortion. The kind so extreme only 19% of Americans can support.
What the latest abortion research shows is that 81% of the country believes abortion, at some level, is wrong. This is consistent with my findings last week which led to me saying... Most Americans are now willing to follow the abortion science – which led to my making this statement - It’s evident that the more this conversation is had, and the more abortion reality is understood, support for a SCOTUS decision striking it down will rise. Just as we’ve seen with a society that has, in general, become far more socially liberal since the Roe decision in 1973, but that has been slowly trending more conservative on the issue of abortion, knowledge is power and despite leftist conventional wisdom that’s anything but wise...most Americans just don’t think whacking babies is the best idea running. And to that end here’s what’s changed with abortion views recently.
Three years ago, 25% of Americans believed in unrestricted abortions. Support has fallen six points – yet it’s the very thing Congressional Democrats are proposing and currently fighting for in Congress. The miscalculations of the abortion debate are plentiful in Washington right now. Some of them are moral, some are political, all of them are wrong. Tomorrow’s votes are worth watching closely. Will your Congressional representative in the House vote in favor of your values on the most fundamental issue of all, or will they vote with what only the most radical 19% in the country thinks is acceptable? This is a vote worth watching. If your representative in the House is willing to abort a baby that’s ready to be delivered – what does that say about their concern for you or humanity in general?
