- Florida’s gas prices are a penny lower than Friday’s record high. The statewide average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas is currently $4.57 per gallon. However, South Florida’s still seeing record high prices this morning. Prices range from a low of $4.59 per gallon in Miami-Dade to a high of $4.72 in Palm Beach County – the highest in the state.
- Florida entered this week with a 3.5 month high in new COVID-19 cases. Most recently Florida’s weekly trend for daily cases totaled over 9,500 – the highest since February 14th.
- Florida’s recently ratified Congressional map has won a second legal challenge and is once again the map of record in Florida. The 1st District Court of Appeal overturned Circuit Court Judge Layne Smith’s injunction of the state’s map – which was advanced by Governor DeSantis. With the legal win for the state, the Florida Supreme Court is now the only body in the state which could strike down the map. Mid-June is a key timeline given filling deadlines for candidates in advance of the August primaries.
- With no Atlantic tropical development expected today, the seven-year streak of named storms prior to the June 1st start of hurricane season will end today.
