  • The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas stands at a record high of $4.76. In South Florida, prices remain the highest in the state. Prices range from a low of $4.80 per gallon in Broward and Miami-Dade – to $4.90 per gallon in Palm Beach County – the highest in the state. 
  • Florida enters this week averaging more than 10,000 COVID-19 cases for the first time in nearly four months. The weekly trend for daily cases stands at 10,238 – which remains the highest since February 14th. 
  • The Broward School District is banning backpacks for the final few days of the school year - Tuesday thru Thursday. The District is taking this step out of what they’re calling an overabundance of caution for security reasons. The final day of school is Thursday in the District.  
  • SeaWorld is offering free unlimited admission for Florida’s teachers through August 31st. There’s an online registration process for public school teachers which verifies ID.me credentials. Private school teachers must bring a letter from a principal on school letterhead indicating that they’re a teacher along with photo ID.  
  • In the Congressional debate over federal gun control measures, a key Senate Democrat – Connecticut’s Chris Murphy is championing Florida’s law. On CNN’s State of the Union Sunday, Murphy stated Florida’s gun laws – passed as part of 2018’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Safety Act – should be the national model. Quoting Murphy, the template for Florida is the right one.
