- Gas prices have reached a new record high of $4.77 per gallon statewide today. That’s a penny higher than yesterday. In South Florida prices range from an average low of $4.80 per gallon in Miami-Dade to $4.91 per gallon in Palm Beach County – a new record high for any county in Florida.
- COVID-19 cases continue to pace higher than 10,000 per day. The weekly trend for daily cases is currently 10,240 – the highest since February 14th.
- A new FAU survey shows inflation is easily the top issue for Floridians right now. According to the “issues” survey, 84% of Floridians say their finances have been “greatly” affected by inflation with 80% having now made changes in consumer behavior as a result. Other issues in which at least half of Floridians identified as top issues included education, the war in Ukraine and immigration.
- Democrat Anne Taddeo has dropped out of her bid for governor – opting instead to run in Florida’s 27th Congressional District against Republican Maria Elvira-Salazar. After Florida’s redistricting, the 27th is the only district with a Democrat lean by way of voter registration which is currently represented by a Republican. Taddeo had consistently polled a distant 3rd in the Democrat primary for governor.
