Abortion Bounce, DeSantis Dominates & Joe’s Lows - Top 3 Takeaways – July 7th, 2022

  1. No abortion bounce for Biden or for Dems. It’s official. Turns out whacking babies in the womb isn’t all the political left has made it out be. As cited in my Midweek Midterm Election Update this week – which reflects post-Roe generic ballot polling...the grand change in the political preference of Americans in the immediate aftermath of the SCOTUS decision has resulted in an earthshaking change of...drum roll please...1%. Now I’m sure to the people marching around with vagina hats on their heads this comes as a surprise. To this audience, however, it most assuredly does not. This political miscalculation is something I’ve been speaking about since the onset of the SCOTUS leak in early May. And it’s not just that abortion isn’t a top issue generally...except to the vagina hat people – which btw, stop and think about this for a moment... Imagine what animates the vagina hat people who place unrestricted abortions everywhere at the top of their issue list. That can’t be a happy or healthy way to live life to begin with. But anyway, it’s about the education that’s happened through this process. As a recent National Review story entitled Harvard-Harris: Americans Don’t Know What Roe Did, stated pollsters have identified that most Americans didn’t actually know what Roe did. For example, in the Harvard-Harris poll – 59% opposed overturning Roe, but among the same sample, 72% said they only supported abortion up to 15 weeks. Those positions are of course incompatible as Roe led to a 24-week standard. It wouldn’t have been possible to obtain the 15-week performance 72% think should be the limit without overturning it. This is but the latest example of what I perceived, from a prolife perspective, would be...
  2. The benefit of a national conversation about abortion. In my experience and through my research I’ve found many, if not most, lack an understanding of what the Roe v Wade decision represented and most importantly, what abortion itself as various stages actually is. I have little doubt that if everyone watched an abortion being performed at 24 weeks, not only would they be horrified, but even some of the vagina hat people would change their minds. So yeah, no meaningful abortion bounce for Democrats – in fact in the internal polling 36% specifically said they’re more likely to vote for Democrats because of the SCOTUS decision compared to 36% who’ve said they’re more likely to vote for Republicans. The more things changed with this issue, the more they’re staying the same in this political cycle which isn’t good news for Democrats or the vagina hats but that happens to be great news for future babies which otherwise would be lost to them. Speaking of great news...
  3. DeSantis has it. When would you have ever guessed (in previous cycles) that one of the least competitive races in the country would be Florida’s governor’s race? But that’s exactly what political prognosticator, generally favored by the left, Nate Silver and 538 are suggesting. DeSantis’ current odds of winning reelection according to said Silver...95%. And the average outcome in that race is a ten-point victory for America’s Governor. And btw, Rubio’s not far behind at a 94% likelihood of winning reelection. Times have surely changed in Florida and if 538’s correct, there won’t be much nail biting in Florida this November, and there will be red waves that that aren’t a result of red tide. Speaking of Florida’s political ratings. We’ve never liked a president less than we like Joe Biden right now. By we, I mean Floridians, and the extent to which we disapprove of Biden is extensive. President Biden’s approval rating has dropped another 4% over the past month resulting in only 29% of Florida’s registered voters currently approving of his performance. On one hand it's still kinda crazy to think that 29% of the people around us are looking at Joe Biden and thinking – yeah give me some more of that guy’s sweet political action. On the other hand, a 29% approval rating is a stunningly low threshold. By way of comparison Biden’s current approval rating in Florida is 12% lower than the lowest rating Trump had at any point in his presidency. So yeah, DeSantis has it. And well for Joe... Floridians just say no.
