Record Low Presidential Approval for Biden in Florida

Record Low Presidential Approval for Biden in Florida

Bottom Line: Led by the pandemic, the past couple of years have brought many firsts to our lives. Most of which we wish would never have happened. For Floridians you can certainly add Joe Biden’s presidency to that list. It’s no secret Florida’s been trending towards the right. It’s no secret even many Democrats are weary of Joe leading the party (let alone the country). All of this has culminated in something I’ve not seen before and based on available accredited polling appears to be a first in our state. Fewer than 30% of Florida’s voters approving of the POTUS – no matter who that president may be.

It was just a month ago President Biden’s approval rating reached a new low in our state with a paltry 33% rating. That was a number which was eight points lower, than the lowest approval rating for President Trump in our state. But last month's low was just the beginning. President Biden’s approval rating has dropped another 4% over the past month resulting in only 29% of Florida’s registered voters currently approving of his performance. Additionally, 59% disapprove of his performance – creating a net negative approval rating of 30% for the president. And the internals of how we get to that paltry approval performance are as brutal as you might imagine.

President Biden retains positive approval with only one demographic in our state. Black Democrats. That’s it. Here’s a breakout of President Biden’s approval in Florida based on demographics.

Highest approval ratings based on...

  • Age: 34% (65+)
  • Education: 32% (postgrads)
  • Gender: 32% (Women)
  • Race: 56% (Black)

Lowest approval ratings based on...

  • Age: 21% (18-34)
  • Education: 28% (Non-College)
  • Gender: 25% (Male)
  • Race: 23% (White)

It’s not just that the lowest approval ratings are remarkably low. It’s that even the highest ratings are as well. There’s just nothing redeeming about President Biden’s performance according to most Floridians. Other key indicators as well – President Biden’s performance with Hispanics – record low 31% approval and with Independents – likewise a record low 17% approval rating. The bottom line is this with Florida’s primaries only six weeks away. The political landscape has never been worse for Democrats in Florida and conversely, it's never been better for Florida’s Republicans.
