Bottom Line: Your daily recap of the biggest news from around the state that impacts you in South Florida. 

  • Gas prices continued to trend lower through the weekend. The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is current $3.78 statewide, 14 cents lower than a week ago. In Southeast Florida, prices range from a low of $3.86 per gallon in Broward, to a high of $3.98 per gallon in the Palm Beaches. 
  • Florida’s trend for new COVID-19 cases has continued lower as well. Florida entered this week with the weekly trend for daily cases averaging 9,383. That’s a decline of about 1,100 per day over a week ago.  
  • Early voting for Florida’s August primaries gets underway today, with Palm Beach County operating 21 early voting locations from 10am to 7pm daily through the 21st. Miami-Dade is also underway today with varying hours through the 21st. Broward’s early voting begins Saturday the 13th.  
  • As early voting gets underway today, 776,335 Floridians have already voted in Florida’s August 23rd primary election. Miami-Dade, Palm Beach County and Hillsborough counties lead the state in tabulated vote-by-mail ballots thus far. Just over 47,000 more democrats have returned ballots which have been tabulated, than republicans.
