- Gas prices have fallen another three cents per gallon in Florida today. Statewide, the average price is currently $3.75 per gallon. In Southeast Florida prices range from an average low of $3.83 per gallon in Broward, to a high of $3.96 per gallon in the Palm Beaches.
- With fewer than 5,500 new COVID-19 cases reported on Monday, Florida’s trend for new cases continued lower. The weekly trend for daily cases now stands at 8,686 – the lowest since May 24th.
- A study conducted by Best Friends Animal Society found Florida’s animal shelters have had the 4th highest rate of deaths nationally. According to their findings, just over 300,000 animals were taken in by shelters last year, with just over 20,000 which were euthanized. 62% of Florida’s shelters are “no-kill”, however according to the study, most in rural parts of the state are not and have high euthanization rates.
- With early voting getting underway Monday in many parts of Florida for the August primary elections, which are two weeks from today, turnout is trending higher than four years ago. As of Monday, the Florida Division of Elections had already accounted for 791,143 ballots having been tabulated based on vote-by-mail ballots alone. The improvement in turnout is being led by increases in NPA and minor party affiliated voters participating.
