Bottom Line: Your daily recap of the biggest news from around the state that impacts you in South Florida. Gas prices continued lower through the weekend.  

  • Permitless, or “Constitutional Carry” of firearms cleared a first legislative step on Tuesday. The Concealed Carry of Weapons and Firearms Without a License bill passed its first House committee on a party line vote. 
  • Gas prices continued lower Tuesday. Statewide the average price for regular unleaded is $3.45 per gallon – two cents lower than yesterday. In Palm Beach County, the average price likewise fell two cents to $3.66 per gallon, though it remains the highest price in the state.  
  • The busiest airport in Florida is no longer in Orlando. Miami International Airport surpassed Orlando International as the most trafficked in the state last year, totaling 50.6 million passengers last year, a new record for the airport – besting Orlando by 500,000 passengers. It’s the first time in seven years Orlando hasn’t been on top. Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International remains the busiest in the world.  
  • Travel company Travel Lens has ranked the best staycation locations in the country as determined through a combination of costs, restaurants, entertainment options and safety. Florida destinations were prominent near the top with Orlando at #2, Key West #3, Tampa #6, Miami #7. Number one overall was Myrtle Beach.
