Trump is a Floridian & DeSantis’ Role in Extradition – Top 3 Takeaways

Trump is a Floridian & DeSantis’ Role in Extradition – Top 3 Takeaways – March 21st, 2023

  1. Is today the day? Trump Derangement Syndrome is a thing. And it’s long been a thing. In fact, the term was first coined by the late Charles Krauthammer, for Trump’s Republican predecessor in the Oval Office, George W. Bush. In 2003, Krauthammer had this to say in coining the phrase... The acute onset of paranoia in otherwise normal people in reaction to the policies, the presidency—nay—the very existence of George W. Bush. And thus Bush derangement syndrome was born. But of course, for all who loathed W, because he was W, that of course paled in comparison to what we’ve seen with Donald Trump. And we saw it early. In fact, the first documented use of the term Trump Derangement Syndrome was in The American Spectator in August 2015 during the Republican presidential primary process in which Esther Goldberg used it to describe what she called “Ruling Class Republicans” who dismissed Trump because he was an outsider. Of course, before long there was another term for those types – Never Trumpers. And as for TDS, Krauthammer nor Goldberg probably could have even envisioned the extent to which it would become a thing. It became such a thing that a bogus conspiracy was created to attempt to tie Trump to Russia. TDS became such a thing that the bogus conspiracy was investigated for nearly two years by a special prosecutor. TDS is so real that even when the Trump-Russia hoax was found to be bogus by the special prosecutor Congressional Democrats invented a new conspiracy, this one involving Ukrainian President Zelenski and impeached him for it. And course in the wake of the January 6th riot at the Capitol they impeached him again as he was on his way out the door. TDS is so real that Mar-a-Lago was raided by the FBI last year over classified documents with pictures illegally leaked publicly (while of course the current president’s illegal classified documents stored for years in numerous places are simply searched and collected). And yes, Trump Derangement Syndrome is so real that those so desperate to “get Trump”, have resorted to attempting to take him down for Stormy Daniels hush money from seven years ago. A case the federal government, which is clearly rife with TDS wouldn’t take up, because they didn’t believe there was a case, is now coming to fruition with the George Soros backed Manhattan DA. Yep, in a city which has seen its crime rate increase by greater than 22% over the past year, with a steady stream of businesses and citizens fleeing, the DA’s priority is Donald Trump’s hush money payments to Stormy Daniels in 2016. This might be the most extreme case of TDS to date. And speaking of dates, will today be the day that someone finally “gets Trump’? Will he be arrested as he suggested he would be on Saturday? I don’t know. But I do know that TDS is as real as ever given that we’re even having this conversation. But someone who doesn’t have TDS, or frankly anything to say about our former president, is our current governor.
  2. Trump is a Floridian. That was trending on Twitter yesterday as DeSantis said this when asked about a possible Trump indictment: I don’t know what goes into paying hush money to a porn star to secure silence over some type of alleged affair. I can’t speak to that (which elicited laughs in the room). But what I can speak to is that if you have a prosecutor who is ignoring crimes being committed every single day in his jurisdiction but he chooses to go back many many years ago to try to use something about porn star hush money payments, that’s an example of pursing a political agenda and weaponizing the office and I think that’s fundamentally wrong. But the real victims are ordinary New Yorkers, ordinary Americans in all of these jurisdictions, that they get victimized every day because of the wreckless agendas of these Soros DAs. They ignore crime and they empower criminals. And that hurts people, it hurts a lot of people every single day. These Soros District Attorneys are a menace to society and I’m glad that I’m the only governor in the country who has removed one from office. The one he has removed from office is a reference to Hillsborough's Andrew Warren whom he removed last year after Warren’s refusal to enforce Florida’s abortion law. But it’s also likely top of mind because he currently has another Soros-backed DA in his sights in Orange County’s Monique Worrell as well who is currently under investigation by the state for her offices’ refusal to pursue drug charges last year for known felon Keith Moses who recently murdered a woman, a 9-year girl and a TV reporter. Clearly DeSantis isn’t done with DAs. But what gained the most attention was what DeSantis said next. We are not involved in this, we won’t be involved in this, I have no interest in getting involved in some kind of manufactured circus by some Soros DA. He’s trying to do a political spectacle, he’s trying to virtue signal for his base, I’ve got real issues I’ve got to deal with here in the state of Florida. And I’ve got to spend my time on issues which actually matter to people. Now that comment drew a very mixed reaction, especially on the right. Many suggested that Trump is a Floridian, thus he should do something. However...
  3. DeSantis can’t stop Trump’s extradition. If this indictment really goes down today or any other day. One of two things would happen. Trump would voluntarily show up to be booked in Manhattan, where he’d quickly be released after a mug shot, or he’d resist and would be extradited. Now if it’s the extradition route, DeSantis does come into play as New York’s Governor Kathy Hochul would send the request to Governor DeSantis. However, under law all he has the right to do is investigate the authenticity of the arrest warrant – for the purpose of extradition. Now he does have up to 60 days to do that, so he could lawfully slow walk extradition if it came to it, but he couldn’t prevent it. Here’s what we know. DeSantis isn’t down with Soros DAs, porn star payments or specifically saying anything about Donald Trump. But yes, Trump is a Floridian and it’s worth remembering that DeSantis has voted for Trump and Trump has voted for DeSantis...and that all of this appears likely to get uglier from here.
