  • Recent movers in the state legislative session included the Immigration bill. The bill which would ban local governments from providing funds or identification documents and would crack down on employers attempting to hire illegal immigrants passed its final senate committee and is ready for a full vote. Its companion passed a first house committee vote.  
  • A proposed amendment seeking to be added to the Elections bill would pave the path for Governor DeSantis to make a presidential run while governor of Florida. Under the proposed change to Florida’s current “resign-to-run" law, any sitting politician wouldn’t have to adhere to the resign-to-run provision if running for “President or Vice President of the United States”.  
  • Gas prices dropped a penny Tuesday. Statewide the average price for regular unleaded is currently $3.69 per gallon – flat with a week ago. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.87 per gallon, which is the highest price in the state. 
  • FICO is warning card skimming is on the rise again in South Florida – including the targeting of more than credit and debit cards. Specifically, it’s been noted many SNAP cards have had funds stolen as a result of skimming scams. It’s best to never use your pin number in a public place to transact and to use encrypted card machines.
