- Two disturbances are active in the Atlantic. Tropical Storm Sean is once again expected to weaken into a depression and dissipate in the mid-Atlantic. Another disturbance off the coast of Africa is being given a 60% chance of development over the next week as it approaches the Leeward Islands.
- Governor DeSantis has signed an executive action aimed at having Florida’s Division of Emergency Management assist in the evacuation of Floridians from Israel. Starting today the US State Department will begin a series of charter flights for Americans seeking to return to the US to locations in Europe. The governor’s order directs the state’s emergency management division to coordinate with those efforts to bring the dislocated Floridians back home.
- All state and local law enforcement agencies are on a hightented state of alert following the call by a former leader of the terrorist organization Hamas, which is responsible for the attacks in Israel, for a “Global Day of Jihad” today. Local law enforcement agencies had already increased security around places of worship this week. That’s being extended to area schools in addition to locations where demonstrations may take place. Anyone who hears or sees suspicious activity is asked to report the activity to authorities immediately.
- Delray Beach Police have arrested three 19-year-old men following an extensive investigation into the armed robbery of a Boca Raton US postal employee in May. The suspects are believed to be connected to a series of mail thefts throughout the county. Police recovered over 2,000 checks, 200 bank cards, a postal employee’s key and five stolen firearms.
- Gas prices are another two cents lower today. Statewide the average price for regular unleaded is $3.37 per gallon – 14 cents lower than a week ago. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.56 per gallon, which is the 8th highest price in the state and equals the best relative pricing of the year.
