- Today is Veterans Day, and aside from many businesses showing appreciation to military veterans through discounts and freebees... Wellington’s Veteran’s Day Ceremony gets underway at 8:15 this morning at Village Hall with a parade that will conclude at the Veterans Memorial with a ceremony to follow. The Town of Jupiter will hold its Veterans Day Ceremony at 9 this morning at the Veterans Memorial located at 210 Military Trail. The Veterans Salute Celebration is taking place at 11 this morning in Palm Beach Gardens at the Veterans Plaza located at 10500 N. Military Trail.
- A FEMA employee who directed assistance workers not to provide aid to victims of Hurricane Milton, who had Trump signs on their property, has been fired. In a statement released by FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell she stated:
- This was reprehensible. I want to be clear to all of my employees and the American people, this type of behavior and action will not be tolerated at FEMA and we will hold people accountable if they violate these standards of conduct.
- We take our mission to help everyone before, during and after disasters seriously. This employee has been terminated and we have referred the matter to the Office of Special Counsel. I will continue to do everything I can to make sure this never happens again.
- PortMiami is once again the world’s busiest cruise port. The port reported a record fiscal year with over 8.2 million passengers cruising, a 12.8% increase over last year.
- A chance of passing showers this morning with partly cloudy skies, most of the day with highs in the mid 80’s - about six degrees warmer than usual for this date. The National Hurricane Center is tracking one system. A disturbance in the southwestern Caribbean Sea has a 30% chance of developing over the next seven days.
- Gas prices dropped a bit through the weekend though they remain higher than a week ago. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.10 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.26 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.12 and in Indian River County the average is $3.10 per gallon.
