  • Floridians are poised to hold key roles in the incoming Trump administration. On Monday, President-Elect Trump tapped Florida Congressman and former Green Beret, Michael Waltz to be the next National Security Advisor. Florida’s senior Senator Marco Rubio is also poised to become Secretary of State in the incoming Trump administration. The presidential appointments are pending Senate confirmation, or recess appointment. Republicans will hold control of the Senate in January.  
  • The Martin County Commission will vote on a revised plan to bring a Brightline station to the county today. Following Stuart’s decision to back out of an already agreed upon plan to bring a station to the city, Brightline engaged county officials with a plan. Under the revised plan, Brightline would agree to a 40-year lease for a station near the Martin County Courthouse at 500 Southeast Flagler Ave., provided that the county would pay up to $15 million towards the construction of the station. 
  • Partly cloudy skies and warm with highs in the mid 80’s - about six degrees warmer than usual for this date. A cold front will be making its way into our area tomorrow. The National Hurricane Center is tracking one system. A disturbance in the southwestern Caribbean Sea has a 70% chance of developing over the next seven days.  
  • Gas prices dropped two cents per gallon on Monday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.08 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.24 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.07 and in Indian River County the average is $3.08 per gallon.
