  • Florida’s economy is now the 15th largest in the world according to the Florida Chamber Foundation’s latest update. Florida’s GDP now exceeds $1.7 trillion annually, surpassing Spain and ranking just behind Australia. Related... 
  • The Florida Retail Federation is encouraging residents to shop local businesses throughout the holiday season as Christmas shopping typically ramps up starting this week. The FRF has launched a “Find it in Florida” campaign with a website demonstrating the benefits of shopping within the state. Florida retailers are responsible for a fifth of all jobs and $69 billion in wages paid annually. 
  • Sunny skies and seasonal temps today with highs in the low 80’s. A thin plume of Saharan dust is tracking from the Caribbean Sea through the Bahamas with another light plume in the central Atlantic, acting as a headwind for tropical development. Related...   
  • The National Hurricane Center’s map is clear. Tropical cyclone activity is not expected during the next 7 days. 
  • Gas prices were flat to lower through the weekend, though they’re five cents higher than a week ago. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $2.96 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.13 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.02, it’s $3.00 in St. Lucie, and in Indian River County the average is $2.99 per gallon.
