The past week has featured the Supreme Court’s overturn of tariffs issued under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, which included all “Liberation Day”, or “reciprocal” tariffs. President Trump quickly moved to reinstate across-the-board tariffs at a 15% rate under the Trade Act of 1974, which enables the president to institute tariffs for up to 150 days without congressional approval.

Iran has remained a front-burner geopolitical concern as the U.S. military buildup in the region is now the largest since the Iraq war. President Trump has warned of U.S. military action against the Iranian government if a deal pertaining to Iran’s attempted nuclear development isn’t reached. The president is also monitoring the instability in Mexico which has led to many Americans trapped in unsafe situations across the country following the government’s killing of prominent cartel leader ‘El Mencho’. Additionally, the president remains engaged with Russia and Ukraine as he’s seeking an end to the war that’s now over four years in length.

Last night’s State of the Union speech highlighted the president’s first year successes on the border and combating illegal immigration, brokering peace and economic policy.
