- During the first day of this week’s special legislative session House Speaker Daniel Perez said that the House wouldn’t consider two of the three issues Governor DeSantis had on the agenda this week. Perez said legislation aimed at artificial intelligence consumer protections and expanded school vaccine exemptions are dead in the House. The legislature is scheduled to begin debate on congressional redistricting today.
- While addressing the National Mining Association in Palm Beach yesterday, Governor DeSantis awarded Florida’s Medal of Freedom to four Floridians for their work to protect and restore the Everglades. Paul Tudor Jones II co-founder of The Everglades Foundation, Nathaniel P. “Nat” Reed, who led efforts to establish the Endangered Species and Clean Water Acts, George Barley, co-founder of The Everglades Foundation and Mary Barley a founding director of The Everglades Foundation, were the recipients.
- An arrest has been made in Indian River County involving violent threats made through the FortifyFL app to area schools. 25-year-old Antonio Mojica was arrested and charged with false threats targeting Palm Bay, Sebastian River High School and Vero Beach High School.
- We’ll have mostly sunny skies and breezy conditions with highs in the low to mid 80’s throughout the Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast – typical for this date. Similar and warmer weather is expected tomorrow.
- Gas prices rose another seven cents per gallon on Tuesday to $4.15 per gallon statewide. In Palm Beach County the average price is $4.31 per gallon, in Martin the average is $4.18, it’s $4.16 in St. Lucie, and in Indian River County the average is $4.19 per gallon.
