- Governor DeSantis signed the Foreign Influence bill into law. The new law which will take effect July 1st: Prohibits public officials, public employees, local government attorneys, and candidates from accepting gifts or benefits from foreign countries of concern or designated foreign terrorist organizations, expands ethics training to help identify and report foreign influence campaigns, ends sister city agreements and linkage institute partnerships involving foreign countries of concern and prohibits charitable organizations from accepting contributions or support from designated foreign terrorist organizations.
- The Martin County Sheriff’s Office arrested six men as part of an undercover operation to combat the sex trafficking of minors. Law enforcement posed as minors online during a three-day operation which included the men visiting a home where they thought they would meet up with minors. Two of the six men are illegal aliens.
- Palm Beach County Fire Rescue and Florida’s Forest Service successfully contained a brush fire near Alton Town Center in Palm Beach Gardens on Sunday. The fire took place in a wooded area between Donald Ross Road and Bonsai Circle. Approximately two acres were impacted; no property damage was reported.
- It’ll be hot and humid today with a chance of showers and thunderstorms throughout the day today with highs in the low 90’s throughout the Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast – warmer than usual for this date. Shower and storms remain possible along with slightly cooler temps over the next few days.
- Gas prices dropped over the weekend and are lower by ten cents per gallon than Friday to $4.40 per gallon statewide – though prices remain higher locally. In Palm Beach County the average price is $4.60 per gallon, in Martin the average is $4.50, it’s $4.47 in St. Lucie, and in Indian River County the average is $4.47 per gallon.
