- 33-year-old Honduran national Luis Figueroa, who’d been living in Lake Worth, has been convicted of conspiracy and possession of a firearm by an illegal alien. Figueroa, who entered the U.S. on a tourist visa in 2017, unlawfully remained in the country and began a firearms-trafficking operation – sending firearms obtained in South Florida through straw buyers and smuggled them to Honduras. Figueroa faces up to 20 years in prison.
- The Florida Department of Health is warning of mosquitos carrying dengue fever in South Florida. Palm Beach County and Miami Dade health officials issued an advisory on Monday warning of the potential for disease transmission after dengue fever cases were traced to mosquitoes in both counties. Officials advise extra diligence in personal protection against mosquitoes in addition to ensuing standing water isn’t present on your property.
- 36,707 backpacks with school supplies are in route to 56 schools throughout Palm Beach County in advance of the start of the new school year next week. Numerous companies and organizations participated in the volunteer effort with PBSO deputies participating with moving companies, including Good Greek Moving and Storage, to deliver the backpacks to students in need through the Education Foundation of Palm Beach County.

The National Hurricane Center’s Tropical Weather Outlook is clear for the next seven days. Persistent Saharan dust from the coast of Africa extends over most of the southern and mid-Atlantic with dust extending over the Caribbean, Cuba, through the Gulf of America. Another plume began to make its way over Florida yesterday.
- The price of gas rose by nine cents per gallon on Monday. The statewide average price for regular unleaded fuel is currently $3.92 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $4.08 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.96, it’s $3.90 in St. Lucie, and in Indian River County the average is $3.92 per gallon.
