Takeaway #1: This Version of the Democrat Party Is the Most Dangerous Yet...and It’s Been Illustrated in Florida
In the wake of Tuesday’s Primary election day there are numerous themes that have been playing nationally...none louder than the biggest upset that took place. Inside of a day Angie Nixon went from someone who was widely perceived as a fringy candidate to a sudden star of the ever woke Left. From MSNOW to CBS, Angie made the rounds on Wednesday spreading a message of free puppies, free candy and free everything that’s of course anything but free. Specifically, she was talking up universal childcare and universal Medicare, which is particularly fun because the current version of Medicare, which kicks in at 65, is already projected to reach insolvency in six years. Maybe if we had it Angie’s way could get there by the end of the year next year! Kudos to CBS for asking Angie a couple of real questions...specifically when she was twice pressed on how she would go about paying for all the “free” things her answer arrived at a predictable line... We’ll go about making sure all of those bigtime millionaires and billionaires pay what they owe. Now like any socialist, Angie is clearly an economically illiterate idiot. While there are numerous reasons why socialism has never effectively worked, the number one reason is that somewhere along the way you run out of other people’s money to pay for all of the not-so-free things. In the economically illiterate argument advanced by Angie, it arrives at the peak of absurdity. Consider this...The total earnings last year by the top 1% equaled $3.1 trillion. The total tax bill paid by the top 1% equaled $823 billion (already 38.4% of the total taxes paid). That means that’s the remaining income of the top 1% was $2.27 trillion. Last year’s federal deficit was still $1.8 trillion. So, forget higher taxation of the top 1%...just to attempt to cover current budget deficits you’d have had to effectively confiscate everything earned by the top 1% over the past year. And that’s before you offer the social wish list of free everythings... The fact is there’s nowhere close to enough millionaires and billionaires to come close to paying for these things. And of course, if exceptionally high levels of federal taxation were attempted by the federal government it’s the millionaires and billionaires that would have the flexibility to leave this country to escape the excessive taxation leaving the average American holding the bag...just as has increasingly become the case in deep blue cities in blue states with socialists in place. Doing something similar at the federal level would be the quickest way to collaspe this country. Angie and her message aren’t the sort of thing to be taken seriously, except they now have to be, because Florida’s Democrat Party made a socialist their nominee to challenge Ashley Moody for her senate seat and that takes us to...
Takeaway #2: Low turnout and apathy on both sides but to the benefit of the GOP
The irony of Angie Nixon’s win is that she wasn’t even one of the Florida Four DSA-backed candidates. The DSA only won one of those races, a city council seat in St. Pete. However, Angie, who wasn’t baked by the DSA, identifies as a DSAer. The fact that should one spoke to one overarching theme that could play up big in November in Florida and potentially across the country. The average turnout over Florida’s primary elections in gubernatorial, aka, midterm election years – has been 33%. What was the turnout rate on Tuesday? A paltry 25.5%. The key number that I shared with you yesterday – my top takeaway from Florida’s Primary Election Day, was this... 15.2%. What was 15.2%? That was the percentage Republicans outvoted Democrats by in Tuesday’s primary. Florida is currently an R+11.4% state...so given that GOP turnout was 15.2% higher than it was for Democrats, Republicans outperformed Democrats by 3.8 points on a relative basis. What this means is that while turnout was on the low side for a gubernatorial primary election generally...most of the reason why turnout was below average was due to apathy in the Democrat Party. What appears to have taken place is that many traditional/mainstream Democrat voters decided not to vote and where the energy was largest on the Left was within the socialist wing of the Democrat Party. This also would help explain how DSA candidate Oliver Larkin pulled in 37% of the Democrat vote in the particularly wealthy District 25 primary. If this result were to happen in a vacuum, I’d warn against trying to read too much into this. However, it’s actually consistent with a bigger theme we’re seeing. Neither major political party is currently popular with voters, however the Democrat Party has spent most of the past two years with record low favorability ratings. That includes...
Takeaway #3: Major issues that the voting base of the party disagrees with...
For example, as I recently illustrated, 93% of Americans – which means just about everyone regardless of political party, believes there shouldn’t be government backed transgendered procedures for minors. But the Democrat Party includes that as part of its official homosexual alphabet orthodoxy. Mandatory voter ID continues to be a thing that a minimum of two-thirds of Democrat voters want to see...yet elected Democrats have been blocking voter ID bills from being passed all throughout this year. And then there’s the matter of defunding ICE and illegal immigration policy. The day I mentioned that this version of the Democrat Party had become the most dangerous yet, was the day that the Democrat Party officially embraced defunding ICE as a formal policy. This might excite the radial socialist wing of the party that hoping and voting for anarchy but as I’ve long said, the average Democrat might vote for liberal politicians, however they mostly live their lives like conservatives. Most Democrats still go to work, pay their taxes, pay their bills, raise a family and other traditional types of things...these also are very conservative things. There’s nothing with flooding our country and our neighborhoods with illegal immigrants that’s consistent with that daily mission. And of course, abolishing ICE would mean that every illegal immigrant who’d ever step ground in this country would get to permanently stay – as there wouldn’t be a law enforcement agency to deport people out of the country. Many Democrat voters don’t know this or get the potential consequence of things like this...however some do. And it just may have become the case that some Democrats have become fed up enough with the party and its candidates that they’re inclined to sit the election cycle out this year. I can definitively say some variation of that did occur on Tuesday. The question now is twofold. Will that remain the case on November’s Election Day and is this also the case in other states? One thing appears to be clear. If in fact, there is particularly low voter turnout and a degree of frustration/apathy - it would seem that it will favor the GOP.
