TALLAHASSEE -- Lawyers are still working out details so the Governor of Florida can get back in the air on a consistent basis.
The negotiations have gone on for more than two months and it still isn't clear when Governor Ron DeSantis will get to fly in the $15 million dollar plus nine passenger Cessna Citation Latitude.
Instead of a lease, the state will buy the plane and make payments, using $1.2 million in recurring state funds. Delivery and pilot-training requirements are among the details that will be included in the contract.
Former Governor Rick Scott sold the state plane, forcing DeSantis and first lady Casey DeSantis to get around in private jets owned by donors while the new plane is being built and paid for.
