Fraud Case Involves Employees At Miami & West Palm Beach VA Medical Centers

US-POLITICS-GOVERNMENT-VETERANS AFFAIRS

Federal prosecutors are announcing federal charges against employees of two Florida VA Medical Centers.

The U.S. Attorney's Office and investigators with the Department of Veterans Affairs' Inspector General will offer up more details Wednesday afternoon on a fraud and corruption scheme allegedly carried out by several employees at the VA facilities in Miami and West Palm Beach.

According to unsealed court documents, those facing criminal charges had access to government-issued credit cards and are accused of fraudulently using them in a way to receive kickbacks from vendors.

The scheme involved purchase orders, but we don't yet know how many Veterans Affairs workers were involved.
