Asymptomatic People Can Now Get Tested In South Florida

Even if you don't have a fever, shortness of breath or dry cough, you can now get swabbed at CB Smith Park in Pembroke Pines as long as you are an adult with an appointment.

Anyone who has already tested positive and needs a re-test can also get in line.

As they try to determine the expanse of the virus, the site's Medical Director, Memorial Healthcare System's Dr. Jennifer Goldman, says they're also offering re-testing.

"It's now very important to see who is negative after a 14 day isolation period because that will help for individuals, themselves, to know whether or not they are still contagious and could shed the virus, as well as for local businesses and the community to understand which workers can safely come back to work one the restrictions are lifted."

But she stresses people are still coming in with symptoms and testing positive so, "We're definitely not at all out of the contagious period of this virus right now."

So far, nearly 14,000 people have been tested at this site and more than 13,500 have received their results.

Results are coming back in about two to four days.

To register for an appointment you can call 954-276-4680 from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily.

The City of Miami has expended its drive-through testing at Charles Hadley Park to include residents over 65 who are asymptomatic and have appointments.

Appointments can be made by calling 305-960-5050.
