Miami, Fl.(Florida News Network)-The National Weather Service issued a falling iguana warning as cold temperatures grip south Florida. Iguanas sitting in trees can be stunned by cold weather and then fall to the ground unexpectedly. Officials say the iguanas will eventually warm up in the morning sun and fully recover. People should not touch the animals even when they are immobilized or try to move them from where they fell.
Freeze warnings have been issued across central Florida for the second night in a row. The warnings will go into effect from north of the metro Orlando area, northern Brevard County and from Volusia to Lake County thru Thursday morning. Officials are reminding residents to bring pets indoors and cover outdoor plants to protect them from freeze damage. Temperatures will tumble into the low 30's for most of the area in the overnight hours with northern counties seeing temperatures dip into the 20's.
