Publix Cancels Friday's COVID Vaccine Appointment Setting Event

For the second time this week, Publix has canceled its scheduled COVID-19 vaccine scheduling window.

A spokesperson for the supermarket chain says the next appointment window that was set for 7 a.m. Friday won't happen because of a lack of enough vaccine supplies.

An entire shipment of more than 200,000 doses of vaccine remains delayed due to winter storms blanketing much of the country.

Governor DeSantis has been asking for patience, saying the Moderna shipment is usually in state by Tuesday or Wednesday of each week.

Maria Brous, Publix's director of communications:

"COVID-19 vaccine shipments continue to be delayed due to inclement weather. While Publix is not scheduling appointments for first doses in Florida, customers with appointments for their second dose should arrive at the Publix Pharmacy at their scheduled date and time."

Publix also had to cancel Wednesday's appointment-setting, but says that anyone with appointments for their second dose should arrive at the Publix pharmacy at their scheduled time. They have enough supply to fulfill those.
