Health Officials Say People Are Confused As To Where To Get Their Vaccines

Some state health officials say that with Florida doing one thing and the feds doing another, it's making the COVID-19 vaccine situation...

"...very confusing for people and causing a lot of not knowing where to go. So we have to do a lot of explaining."

During Tuesday's county commission meeting, Palm Beach County Health Director Dr. Alina Alonso with the Florida Department of Health said that teachers and other K through 12 school staff of ANY age can go to FEMA vaccination sites along with pharmacies, which get their supplies from the federal government.

"And so their program has expanded that at their sites with no restrictions, as opposed to the state saying that they have to be 50 and older."

Meanwhile, commissioners complained that there are not enough permanent vaccination sites operating in Palm Beach County.

Commissioner Mack Bernard pointed out that there is none in the eastern portion of the county.

Commissioner Gregg Weiss said he wanted the public to know that the number of pharmacies offering the shots has expanded in recent days. He said that, in addition to the Publix pharmacies throughout the county, the COVID-19 vaccine is offered at the following locations:

CVS in Belle Glade, Sam's Club on 45th Street, Winn Dixie on Hypoluxo Road in Lake Worth and Walmart stores in Boynton Beach and Delray Beach.

The Health Department is working on a map that will list all of the pharmacies and vaccine sites where residents can go and get their shots.
