Today is the first official Law Enforcement Appreciation Day in Miami-Dade. Commission Chair Jose Pepe Diaz introduced the unanimously passed resolution making this day a paid holiday for all law enforcement officers after the defund the police movement. He says these men and women put their lives on the line daily and deserve our respect. He says they've also had to deal with the double whammy of a pandemic and increased gun violence in the county. The holiday falls on the Friday before National Police Week.
