An as-yet unidentified suspect is in stable condition following an officer-involved shooting in Sarasota this morning. Police spokesperson Genevieve Judge says officers received a 9-1-1 call about a robbery. "What I can tell you is this was a call about of robbery in the area of Fruitville and Beneva Roads," Judge said. "And for unknown reasons at this point, that robbery call escalated into an officer-involved shooting."
The officer involved was not hurt. FDLE is now investigating the shooting, while Sarasota police are looking into the report of a robbery.

Meanwhile, the Hernando County Sheriff's Office has released more information about a fatal deputy-involved shooting that took place this past weekend.
Deputies were attempting to serve a warrant on Gary Schryver, when he became confrontational. His actions led to the shooting.
Sheriff's Office also says Schryver had a violent criminal past dating as far back as 1977. He had 23 previous arrests, and was even shot by a Hernando deputy in 2018 during a confrontation behind a Family Dollar store.
