Miami-Dade Police launching the holiday crime initiative a week before Thanksgiving. You may notice a heavier than usual police presence as you deck the halls at local malls. Miami-Dade Police Director Freddy Ramirez says they're beefing up the uniformed and non-uniformed patrols now through New Year's so no Grinches steal your gifts. He says you can help by keeping your eyes and ears open at all times. He says shoppers need to remember the "lock it or lose it" mantra--be sure to always lock car doors and park in well-lit areas.
