A Palm Beach Atlantic University professor has been let go and he blames Governor DeSantis.
Last month, Sam Joeckel, an English Composition professor at the private Christian college, was informed that a parent complained about his racial justice lectures.
This week, he says his contract was not renewed after 20 years at the university.
"In the 12 years that I've been teaching the racial justice unit, not once has any PBA administrator voiced any concerns about my racial justice unit."
Joeckel tells CBS 12 News that he believes the governor's "anti-woke movement" led to the school's decision. He has hired an attorney.
Palm Beach Atlantic is not bound by state laws regarding public universities and what's taught at those institutions.
PBAU officials have not commented.
