Homeless Man Arrested for Brutal Bus Station Rape in Miami

Miami, FL - An arrest has been made in a South Florida bus station rape case as a homeless man has been apprehended following a thorough investigation.

Miami police arrested 20-year-old Clarens Braynen in connection with the alleged rape of a woman in the parking lot of a Miami bus station nearly three weeks ago, following a Crime Stoppers tip that led detectives to identify Braynen as the suspect behind the assault.

The incident occurred on May 7th when the victim, after disembarking from a Miami-Dade Transit bus at the Omni Station around 5 a.m., was walking along Biscayne Boulevard at Northeast 32nd Street.

Braynen reportedly approached the victim from behind, covered her mouth with a cloth, and forcibly drug her into an empty parking lot where the rape took place.

During the assault, the victim fought back and managed to bite Braynen's hand.

Seizing the opportunity, the victim escaped and contacted the police.

According to jail records, Braynen had been in custody at the Krome Detention Center on a trespassing charge from an unrelated case that occurred on May 8th.

Last week, surveillance footage released by police revealed Braynen wearing the same clothing he had during the incident, followed by a quick change of attire to avoid detection by law enforcement.

Braynen faces charges of sexual battery and kidnapping. He was booked into jail on Thursday and is currently being held without bond.
