The Palm Beach County Commission has given unanimous approval to a proposal to turn the Palm Beach International Raceway property into warehouse space.

Thursday's 7-0 vote was a turnaround from a January decision, in which the commission denied approval to take the property off the Bee Line Highway near Jupiter and develop it into 2 million square feet of industrial warehouses to be known as the Palm Beach Logistics Center.

The proposal by the owners of the property was met with a fight by a local group of racing enthusiasts.

The raceway, once known as Moroso Motorsports Park, first opened in 1964 and closed in April of last year.
