Miami Police Officer Hailed A Hero For Saving Drowning Autistic Boy

A Miami Police officer who saved a drowning autistic child from a river last month is being hailed a hero. Officer Ernesto Fernandez says the whole thing hits close to home since his 4-year-old son is also autistic. Fernandez was driving home when he noticed the 10-year-old running barefoot by his patrol car in Allapattah. When he asked him why he was alone he wouldn't answer, so he followed him knowing something wasn't right. When he saw the child jump in the water he jumped in and pulled him out, performing C-P-R until he could breathe normally.
