A roadside memorial that honored the twin sister of a former state lawmaker and four other teens killed in a Boca Raton car crash has been removed.

"It's not fair and it's not right and I want them to put it back exactly where it was!"

Emily Slosberg-King served in the state House for six years until 2022. She was injured the crash that killed her twin sister Dori back in 1996 and the memorial had been in place since then, until Palm Beach County public works crews removed it last week.

The county later told CBS 12 News that the removal was in error and the four crosses, one Jewish Star of David and photos were put in storage. They are now being reinstalled.

Slosberg-King's father, Irv Slosberg, also served in the Florida Legislature.

"This is shocking that Palm Beach County would do this."

So how did it happen?

County Commissioner Marci Woodward says that complaints came into her office about that memorial and others, and so a public works crew removed them. The thought was that the display was on the county's right of way. That was not the case.
