A South Florida Democrat Congressman wants Mar-a-Lago taxed based on the amount that former President Trump says it's worth.

Donald Trump is in the middle of a civil fraud trial in New York, where the former president and his family are accused of repeatedly lying to banks and insurers by overvaluing and undervaluing his assets.

In a letter to Palm Beach County Property Appraiser Dorothy Jacks, Rep. Jared Moskowitz notes that the oceanfront club was listed as being worth $490 million in financial documents to banks, while it was appraised at between $18 million and $28 million from 2011 to 2021.

The congressman asks if Jacks will be amending the property value in line with the Trump family's belief that it is worth well over a billion dollars.

There's been no response from the property appraiser's office or the Trump Organization.

Moskowitz's Congressional District 23 covers portions of southern Palm Beach County, not including Mar-a-Lago, and sections of Broward County.
