A rally outside Zoo Miami is planned for Saturday morning at 10 o'clock to oppose the construction of a water park on environmentally sensitive land.
Zoo Miami's Ron Magill hopes to change the minds of Miami Dade Commissioners who are set to vote next month on whether to build the Miami Wilds water park on zoo land.
Zoo spokesman Ron Magill says he is risking his job by holding the "Let Them Thrive" rally. Magill says an endangered bat along with other threatened species could become extinct if Miami Wilds is built.
Magill says if the rally is successful in changing the vote on December 12, "it would be the first time that the Miami-Dade commission choses the environment over development."
