Broward Expected To Support Resolution For Ex-Deputy Shot In Line Of Duty

Broward Commissioners expected to pass a resolution supporting a legislative attempt to get compensation for former Broward Sheriff's Deputy Maury Hernandez whose brain damaged and partially paralyzed after being shot in the head during a traffic stop sixteen years ago. BSO Union President Matt Cowart says this is really a symbolic gesture. This year's legislative session marks Hernandez' fourth attempt to receive ten-million-dollars in lost wages and medical bills from the state after his insurance provider stopped paying for his treatments. His workers' compensation provider has filed a one-million-dollar lien against him.
