The Internal Affairs report is out in a law enforcement shooting near Mar-a-Lago nearly four years ago.

Hannah Roemhild from Connecticut had sped through security checkpoints when Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputies and Secret Service agents fired a total of 23 shots at her vehicle.

"I think they were well justified in firing their firearms."

Former FBI Agent Stuart Kaplan tells CBS 12 News that he agrees with the assessment in the report which states that a PBSO detective knew there was "a lot going on in Washington regarding politics and" then-President Trump. He believed there could be a bomb in Roemhild's SUV.

"The bottom line is you are trained to discharge your firearm until such time as that threat is completely and totally neutralized."

The woman was fleeing an FHP trooper who had approached her outside the Breakers Resort because she had been dancing on the roof of the vehicle.

Police have said the woman, who was in town to perform at an Opera, had been off her medications.

Roemhild was not struck by any of the bullets in the January 31, 2020 incident.
