A woman is facing charges after her kids were found unresponsive in a van in Miami-Dade County. Shirlene Alcime was charged yesterday with child neglect with great bodily harm. The charge dates back a couple weeks when her three-year-old children were found unresponsive in a van on the I-95 North ramp to the Turnpike Extension at the Golden Glades interchange.
They wound up passing away. Their cause of death has yet to be determined by the medical examiner.
Alcime,42, was found on train tracks after she apparently jumped over the expressway wall in a suicide attempt. Police say she plotted her children's death and her own for months due to financial problems.
Alcime is due in court Friday morning.
