An investigation is underway at the FPL plant in Indiantown after an explosion Thursday night.

Martin County Fire Rescue says firefighters first responded to the facility along Warfield Boulevard to find smoke coming from a turbine.

The smoke stopped and while two Florida Power and Light workers went to fix it, the explosion occurred and the two workers were injured. One suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Jackson Memorial's Burn Unit in Miami, while the other went to a local hospital with minor injuries.

A firefighter who pulled the FPL workers to safety also suffered minor injuries.

The fire was extinguished around 10:30 last night. No evacuations were ordered.
