Seminole County, FL - A Seminole County gas station employee is recovering after a violent attack early Saturday morning.
Sanford Police arrested 62-year-old Randal Lee Lawton following the incident at a RaceTrac near U.S. Highway 17-92 and Lake Mary Blvd.
According to police reports, officers responded to calls of a woman screaming for help from the gas station restroom.
Upon arrival, they found Lawton barricaded inside the men's bathroom with the victim, a store employee.
Officers forced entry and apprehended Lawton.
The report details the woman suffering multiple lacerations to her neck and hand.
She was transported to the hospital for treatment.
Her current condition is unknown.
The investigation revealed Lawton, a prior customer, returned to the store and entered the restroom where the employee was working.
He then allegedly locked them both inside and assaulted the woman.
The woman sustained injuries while fighting back against the attack.
Lawton is facing charges of aggravated battery, resisting arrest, and kidnapping.
He has no prior criminal history in Seminole County and remains in jail on a $55,000 bond.
His arraignment is scheduled for July 23rd.
