Longtime Palm Beach County Administrator Verdenia Baker will be retiring soon.
The 66-year old told County Commissioners that she will be stepping down at the end of May. Baker says she plans to spend more time with her family after spending nearly 40 years as a county employee.
She was named administrator in 2015.
The administrator position oversees the county's $9 billion budget.
In an email to commissioners, Baker cites accomplishments during her time on the job including construction of new county facilities, creation of workforce housing programs and the building of a spring training ballpark for the Houston Astros and Washington Nationals.
With County Commissioners in Tallahassee this week for Palm Beach County Day, the next Commission meeting comes March 11th.
