Tampa, FL - A Tampa homeowner was rescued by police on Wednesday after losing his footing while blowing leaves off the roof of his three story residence, leaving him hanging from the edge until officers arrived.

According to body camera video released by the Tampa Police Department, Officers Jason Sikoski and Kaleb Girard were dispatched following a 911 call reporting that a man was stranded on the upper level of his home after slipping during outdoor maintenance.

Authorities confirmed the incident involved no criminal activity and no arrest report was generated, as the response was strictly a rescue call.

When officers reached the home, the video shows the man gripping the ledge with his hands while his legs dangled over the side.

The officers moved toward him, secured his arms and pulled him back onto the roof structure.

After being brought to safety, the man expressed concern about the situation he unintentionally caused, telling officers he did not mean to create a commotion.

One officer reassured him that he had done nothing wrong and that their job was to assist in emergencies.

The man also remarked on how quickly police arrived, and an officer responded that rapid response was their goal.

Tampa Fire Rescue arrived shortly after the rescue to assist him down from the roof and to check for any injuries.

Officials reported no major injuries and said the man was safely returned to the ground.

The department released the footage to document the rescue and the actions taken by responding officers.
