State Road 7 Extension Approved, WPB Appeal Possible

road construction

Despite opposition from the Mayor of West Palm Beach, the expansion of State Road 7 along the west side of the Grassy Waters Preserve has been approved by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

The project will extend the roadway from north of Okeechobee Boulevard to Northlake Boulevard, in an area near the Ibis Country Club, which is annexed to West Palm Beach.

Mayor Jeri Muoio and others have cited environmental concerns, but the Army Corps says the project incorporates certain design features to protect Grassy Waters, the wetlands that filters the city's drinking water.

Muoio is considering an appeal.
